Mother Nature will eventually affect all products designed for exterior use. SunFree Vinyl is a beautiful, textured floor covering for exterior use as a waterproofing membrane. SunFree Vinyl can turn concrete or plywood surfaces into beautiful finishes that protect and preserve. It is mildew and rot resistant, fire retardant and ultraviolet light resistant. It meets and exceeds all U.S. codes for waterproofing exterior surfaces. When you specify SunFree Vinyl you not only get the most economical and maintenance free deck surface, but also the most durable on the market today. SunFree Vinyl is one of the newer polyvinylchloride (PVC) products on the market. Being a newer product means SunFree has eliminated several of the problems associated with older vinyl membranes: EXTERIOR REINFORCEMENT. SunFree Vinyl is extruded directly to the backing, virtually eliminating delamination. The vinyl has a needle-punched polyester backing for added strength and flexibility. It also allows for a more even glue spread which helps to reduce vinyl shrinkage and cracking over time. Older vinyl products use an interior reinforcement, they have a smooth back. Smoothed backed vinyl does not allow for an even glue spread and makes the vinyl more susceptible to shrinkage and cracking. NO MECHANICAL FASTENING. Because SunFree Vinyl is a newer product with a needle-punched polyester backing it does not have the excessive shrinkage that older vinyl products experience. Any time a puncture is made in the vinyl to fastening it in place there is a potential for water penetration. Water will follow screws, or nails into the wood and eventually cause rot damage. Whether the fastening is on the face of the deck, or along the wall, water will eventually work its way back (and up) to the wood. ROT, MOSS, AND MILDEW RESISTANT. SunFree Vinyl's chemical makeup includes new technologies that inhibit the growth and spread of these vinyl killers. Rot, moss, and mildew attract the molecules in vinyl that allow it to stay soft and pliable. ENLAYED AND HEAT WELDED. SunFree Vinyl is heat welded at seam points in order to create a solid waterproof surface. In order to eradicate the unsightly "humps" caused by overlaying thick vinyl Lockhart's Enterprises enlays seams (The owner of Lockhart's Enterprises, Mr. Lockhart himself, actually invented this process!). Enlaying seams allows for more pleasing aesthetics and better water runoff. Products that promote invisible seams are miss-leading and usually allow for water penetration. The enlayment of seams is done only on clean plywood surfaces. Surfaces that are concrete, or have an existing product on them, are not able to have their seams enlayed. SUNFREE VINYL IS AVAILABLE IN A 66 MIL PRODUCT. 66 mil Vinyl Decking : Approximately 82 mil overall; this product is a class A rated roofing material.
